THE BEAR LAKE MUSEUM
Going, going, gone!....for 2019 that is! The Bear Lake Museum is now closed for the 2019 year. We are now busy cleaning and putting the collection to bed for the winter.
However during the winter months the Directors will be "polishing up" the Museum by: (1) adding more interesting information to make it easier for our visitors to learn about each artifact; (2) changing at least two of our displays; (3) organizing the research room; (4) cataloging pictures and other written items too numerous to display; and (5) cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! So we will be busy little elves working together to make the Museum even better with many new things for our visitors to discover!
If you wish to become more actively involved in helping us "Save the Past" please contact Joyce Valentine at home 231-864-3961 or by cell at 231-396-6269. We could really use your help!
The 2020 Bear Lake Museum is at the printer and will be available very soon. Please contact any Director to have one saved or mailed to you as soon that it is available. A calendar is free to our members who have "President's Circle" or "Lifetime" memberships.
125th QUASQUICENTENNIAL BOOK
The 125th Quasquicentennial Publication celebrating the Village of Bear Lake is still available. The 80 page publication has continued to be a popular item for visitors to pick up while visiting the Museum. If you haven't been able to pick up your copy please let us know and we will get one in the mail to you or have it ready for pick-up. These make wonderful Christmas gifts for those "hard to buy for."
Contact Katherine Schafer at 231-690-2210 to reserve your copy of this keepsake publication is available to members for $20.00 and to non-members for $25.00 (plus $5.00 shipping if needed).
BUY—A—BRICK is always a nice gift too! Many bricks have already been purchased by individuals and families--don't be left out of this
Memory Garden outside the Museum. Order your brick soon. Go to the Events page to learn about the details of this project.
Please help us fill the floor of our Memory Garden with new family names before Summer 2020 arrives! It would be nice to have every family represented and every brick inscribed!
BEAR LAKE DAYS 2019
You might be interested to know that over Bear Lake Days 2019 we had the pleasure of greeting over 400 visitors to our Museum! Mrs. Nina Girven stopped by the Museum and played the organ several times during the day. Several visitors even gathered around singing along with the lovely melodies she played. Special Thank You to Nina on behalf of the Society Board of Directors.
We continue to be surprised and delighted by the individuals and families who come in each week with new items for our displays!
All of the calendars we have published are filled with unique photos which make them a wonderful collector piece of literataure.
A few limited copies of the 2017, 2018, and 2019 calendars are still available for purchase! These calendars have wonderful pictures featuring the history of the Bear Lake area. Go to our Museum Store to order your copy(ies) and we will ship immediately.
